Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?
Is there a rule for how many circuit breakers in a 135A main panel? The National Electrical Code (NEC) specified that a lighting and appliance branch circuit panelboard could not contain more than 42 overcurrent devices (circuit breakers). That was the absolute maximum, unless the manufacturer spec...

3.2 Thermostat Housing (Warning)
3.2 Owners, I just watched a video of a XC90 3.2 with a failed Thermostat. The surprising thing is that the failure mode appears to be non standard. Common failure mode for 3.2 Thermostat 1. Cracked plastic due to return spring shear force and thermal cycles (Fatigue or Creep rupture is the likely p...

Re: 2013A XC90 - 150,000 Miles To-Do List
XHEART, My friend LR2 Mike changed his coils in his 3.2 yesterday. He went with original Land Rover parts. He was getting some rough running at idle (i.e. misfire) but no codes. He is well above 200,000 miles. Note: Delphi is a good choice for ignition coils. I do have a replacement coil that is in ...

Re: Timing belt and PCV overhaul time, any advise?
This is all the good stuff in Volvo Original Equipment brands. For PCV I have used the IPD kit. As I recall, it has Volvo parts except the hose clamps. It is hard to tell if you need/want to replace the oil separator tank until you get it removed. You may want to replace the accessary belt and idler...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Sunroof Rattle
Check the threads in the side channel pieces for the four torx screws that hold the glass on and also the torx screw threads, if the threads are in good shape use medium strength threadlocker and retighten the four screws. With my car the previous owner had stripped the threads in the side piece for...

Re: XC90 pulls when braking... not the same story repeated
Unless someone says otherwise, the LCA bolts to the subframe are torqued at the ride height. I would also torque the ball joint nut to LCA at the same height. VIDA instruction:: It is vital that the screwed joints for the rubber bushings are tightened in the "normal" position (in the same...

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?
Living in a four season brings joy; the fall rains will be here soon. Columbus Day weekend has been the start of yard work for me. This fall I must explore ways to control creeping Charlie. A Google search -- Is triclopyr safe for lawns? The easiest weeds to control in grass lawns are annual broadl...
