The locking ring should hold it in place, but yes it is suppose to look like the old one. If you couldn't yank off the axle then it should be good. It might be that they got lazy with the proper dimensions. Ok so you cheapened out on the axle. I did as well, and it lasted me under 2 years. I unders...

Here is some general information on tap types and tapping threads. Go slow and easy. Key point on blind holes is to get the cuttings out the top by frequently backing out the tap and cleaning. Good luck.

Heater core does not retain coolant; it circulates. There will be some in the pipes and passage - catch it with a towel at disconnect. Heater core replacement can be eventful with driver seat in place, but without driver seat can be a joyful work space.
