Drivers side is not easy. Passenger side requires removing the neck for the windshield washer bottle. Do you have the owners manual? We have an 06 XC70 and the info on how to change it was in there.

Re: Changing out the Fuel filter
The fuel manifold is the shiny straight tube in the center of xheart's photo. The fuel bleed valve is in the tiny blue cap on the right end of the manifold. The manifold may have plastic cover (Item 4). But you should not need to remove this cover.
But you knew that.

Re: Changing out the Fuel filter
Fuel filter can be a pain to replace due to rust - remove the bracket first and then work with separating fuel hoses.

Re: Should I worry?
My only experience is with turbo engines, so the NA might be easier (?) When I replaced mine the first time, it was a chore, yes. But if you have the right tools, new gaskets, and see how easily the intake manifold comes off, it's not so bad. Then you can see and access everything. If you can do it ...

Re: Changing out the Fuel filter
I threw on a new Mahle fuel filter today. Didn't even bother to raise her. My garage slab is fiber concrete so easy to lay your back on. Don't know if all P2s have it but there's also a schrader release valve on the fuel hose right next to the fuel filter. I just released gas there then changed the ...

Re: PCV Breather Box
Judging from the linked pic it appears that separator box has the built in diaphragm which would mean you have a non-turbo. In that case it’s very likely that the diaphragm is all coked up and not controlling the PCV vacuum any more. If that’s the case then a new box will be in order. If, on the oth...

Re: PCV Breather Box
Remove it and keep the shaft from getting solvent into the electronics. I wet a cloth with solvent and sponge the residue off carefully.

Re: PCV Breather Box
The diaphragm part comes integral to the box. You can see it in the parts house photos. I just opened up my old one out of curiosity and then took a picture of it. Be careful when ordering a box as the large angled hose on the bottom comes in two different diameters where it connects to the engine b...
