Re: 2003 XC70 Vibration on acceleration
In my case it was worn front LCA bushings on both arms. When I purchased this car in late 2012, it had slightly torn bushings, but far away from being fully split. Car was floating on the road, more noticeably than our other Volvo, and over time developed that shake. I bought replacement bushings, c...

Re: 02 V70XC Right Front Axle Shaft Carrier Bearing DIY?
I replaced the bearing with the quality one, closest size from the standard nomenclature. It's depth was smaller, but it works well. Easily done with cheap 12 tons press from Harbor Freight. Don't remember the price for the bearing, but it was cheap compared to $$ mentioned above.

Re: After-market stereo
It will permanently store DTC that CEM is unable to communicate with AUM, but you won't see anyseen annoying on the dash. You will loose steering wheel controls, parking sensors (if any), volume vs speed adjustment, automatic dimming, but you can also buy an adapter to solve these issues. This is wh...

Re: PCV/ Glove test failure 04 XC70
I have to ask this question because I don't really understand these pcv systems. Okay on a turbo Volvo engine the vacuum comes from the intake manifold which is highest at idle, but once the turbo engages it puts positive pressure in the intake so where does the vacuum come from or does some of the...

Re: Leaky front engine seals, oil trap..... $1900?
It took me about 5 evenings of work to change PCV and the front camshaft seals, but that's mainly because UPS could not deliver my camshaft locking tool during snowstorms. So while waiting I rebuilt alternator and injectors, carefully cleaned cooling system, washed intercooler, etc. When you have al...

Re: Leaky front engine seals, oil trap..... $1900?
Experience is crucial here. I've spent like 2 hours aligning VVT hubs, which you have to take off to get to the seals. Also my seals felt like they were welded to the head, spent too much time prying them out with a screwdriver, especially on exhaust side. So frustrating to see the seal FUBAR becaus...

Re: Busted control arm, needs new CV Half Shaft too… worth the work?
What would you do if you were me? I can tell what I did. I crashed my 05 XC70 w/ 175k miles on it, bought another 05 XC70 w/ 215k miles on it, swapped everything: powertrain, interior, exterior (what survived). Cost me $2200 and two months spent in garage at evenings and undisclosed amount of beer....
