Re: Arduino Volvo Display Thread

Replaced my old 2.4" Picaso display with a bigger/newer one (gen4 Diablo 2.8"): https://a.d-cd.net/xBAAAgI_uuA-960.jpg The one I bought about 5 months ago developed a crack in the flat display cable, it is a FUBAR :( Had to buy another one. Also my other project: third-party navigation in ...

Re: Lower control arm and CV boot, should I bother?

FCP sells GKN axles - this is what Volvo put in our cars. GKN is half of the Volvo price, yet still durable. I bought one axle from Volvo ($600) when GKN was not yet available, the other side was replaced year later with GKN. Few years, 20+k miles/year, including dirt and gravel roads, both axles st...

Re: Lower control arm and CV boot, should I bother?

Outer CV needs a different type of grease. Inner one (tripod) can use the grease from the GKN rebuild kit, however don't use it in outer joint. I don't remember what exact grease does the outer require. For inner joint you better get a GKN grease as well. I destroyed two axles by using a very expens...

Re: Lower control arm and CV boot, should I bother?

You can slack the clamp, inject grease with a syringe, rotate the clamp at needed angle and re-tighten it. However they tend to stretch over time and need to be replaced. Have both my 2 and 3 y.o. Volvo and GKN axles spitting small amounts of grease, the clamps are fully tightened, can't do more.

June wrote: 21 May 2019, 13:12 Where did you get a original axle for $200? June
$200 was the most expensive aftermarket axle I've tried.
Volvo was $600 (GKN was not available here yet).
GKN for the other side was $300-something.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working

DEM connectors are not soldered to the board, just plugged in mechanically. They don't take any abuse, yours may have lost electrical contact. https://a.d-cd.net/8iAAAgJs5uA-960.jpg Also DEM is not completely water/oil proof, that ruins electronics. I would split the DEM and tried to fix it: clean t...

Re: ATF JWS3309 Service Method ?

Do not add any "tune up" product to ATF. Better change ATF.

Re: Question about P2 Engine/Transaxle Mount Failure

Almost stripped collar sleeve can do that. Propeller shaft's front CV joint, too.

Re: PCV replacement on 05 xc70

Yes, replace everything. That coolant pipe is a heated PCV pipe that works when engine is under the boost, i.e. most of driving. Turbo engines have very little places where it can take vacuum, so clogged/cracked pipe will loose whatever vacuum was available. That's why the pipe is heated.
