Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I needed to check the Trans fluid level which I haven't done since I bought the car earlier in the year. The radiator hose passes over the top of the dipstick. I used a plastic flowerpot hook to pull the hose out of the way, 1-5/8" hook. Fits perfectly. Transmission is overfilled. Will do a du...

Re: P0420 After VVT seals replacement
Since you own DiCE/VIDA, you can read VVT adaptation angles after revving the engine above 1500 RPMs (self-test happens there).
Bosch oxygen sensors in this car have lifetime of 150k km (km, not miles). If you haven't replaced them yet, they are long overdue.

Re: P0420 After VVT seals replacement
Under +/- 4 degrees is OK, under +/- 8 is tolerable, though with power loss. 8 or more is a chance for piston to smash into valves.
Myself tries to get it under 1 degree. Does not take too long if you know what you're doing.

Re: P0420 After VVT seals replacement
loosen the adjustment bolts and rotate the hub right? but which direction? 6.2 adaptation on Exhaust means I should rotate it 6.2 clockwise? and counterclockwise on Intake? or the other way around, 6 degrees CCW on exhaust, and 2.6 degree CW on Intake? I guess a torque wrench can be used to meansur...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
i think your vvt hub is worn beyond spec and leaking. FCP sells the big O ring but will that tighten up the play ? O-ring they sell is thinner than the original one. Plus O-ring grinds a groove, so the replacement O-ring actually needs to be even bigger than the original. I think I was able to sour...

Re: 2002, V70 (ATF Drain)
Hello Gentlemen and Happy New Year! I want to change out my ATF but using the slower, less taxing method where you drain about 3.25 quarts from the sump and then re-fill from the top dipstick with a funnel. I saw a video that stated to do this again after driving 1,000 miles. Do you think I can rep...

Re: 2002, V70 (ATF Drain)
Krons, is the method you speak of here "transmission cooler return flush method" different from what I spoke of? Just the sump drain. Transmission diverts only a small fraction of ATF flow to the cooler, the rest goes back to sump. In my experience the Gibbons method is more messy and mor...

Re: 2002, V70 (ATF Drain)
If you can drain the fluid through a plug in the pan and you empty 3.5 quarts, you'll wind up putting in fresh 3.5 quarts into the empty pan. Now, if you flush through the radiator transmission hose, all 3.5 quarts will be pumped into the system while 3.5 quarts come out of the hose. There will be ...

Re: 2002, V70 (ATF Drain)
Buy a bottle of Lubegard HFM. Add 3 oz. Drive for a couple of days. If it improves your situation, fresh ATF will help.
