Re: Possible Haldex Failure 2003 XC70
Mechanically these Haldex'es are very sturdy, they easily outlive the rest of the car. I've heard maybe about a couple of Haldex'es with clutches FUBAR. Pull the connector out of DEM (Haldex computer), clear the codes and see if problems go away. My DEM had a contact pad on a very small (sub 1 mm) r...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
It's almost tropical here today, we were told the temperature was going to go up to 18°C but it seems to have pegged out at 15.7°C so I decided to finish off Kära with a polish as it hasn't been done in two years. I had noticed the lower door area wasn't as smooth as it once was but overall the car...

Re: Possible Haldex Failure 2003 XC70
No, mine didn't have any grinding noises. And I would advise you to hear said noises yourself before coming to any conclusion.
I see Haldex units as low as $3xx on ebay. Replacing it is 4 easily accessible bolts once the propeller shaft is dropped.

Re: Newly purchased 06 XC70 tranny fluid swap
Lower mount should be very soft or face the vibration. A lot of aftermarket mounts are hard. Top mount w/ square rubber should have some slack too. Tighten it with the engine running. Also be aware that Volvo's five cylinder is very shaky engine. Amount of vibrations that would be an indication of s...

Re: Aluminum wheel corrosion welded (?) to hub
Take another wheel, swing it and smack against your stuck wheel. I.e. what you do with rubber hammer, but now with sufficient mass and inertia.

Re: Possible Haldex Failure 2003 XC70
AWD Volvo with amputated driveshaft does not become FWD. It still thinks it is AWD, with consequences like terrible torque steer. Driving it like that is not a pleasure, nor is it "lighter" - it is slower in fact. I had/have both FWD and AWD Volvos, FWD drives differently than AWD with bro...

Re: Possible Haldex Failure 2003 XC70
Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated Garage is saying that vida is pointing them at the haldex being the problem and that they'll unplug the haldex and pull the prop shaft. They're suggesting sorting out the haldex is a bit of a pain, so I'm thinking that if the car is happy without the hal...

Re: Manually rotating camshafts by hand using camshaft locking tool, did I damage the valves?
1. Yes, absolutely.
2. Yes.
3. You'll see it immediately. It locks/mounts in one position only.
Too long bolt in Chinese kit is a common problem.

Re: Manually rotating camshafts by hand using camshaft locking tool, did I damage the valves?
Thanks for the reply VTI - went with lessening the sprockets and worked great On another note looks like its the exhaust cam itself leaking - huge amount of play on it so I ordered replacement. I had the exact same failure on my V70 2.5T at 253k miles. My seals were probably ok as it took much effo...
