Maintenance Log: 205k-270k s70 rebuild before being totaled
I'm writing this to have a proper maintenance log of my 99 S70 - NA m56 transmission. I've made plenty of panic threads where I've learned a lot from the community, and a couple where I've shared what I've done. It's also an exercise in sharing my own experience in sunk-cost bias, and naive obsessiv...

It's not always the ABS module
Even though we 96 upwards p80 owners know that the ABS/Tracs double orange means the module is faulty - it's not always the case, as I will photoproof here. Interestingly, the lights were off in dry wearher and only came on in rauny condiruons, which made me suspect the wiring. I guess a tiny rock g...

Re: It's not always the ABS module
I have a business partner in Voralberg, and it used to crack him up at trade shows when I told people we were in Austria, land of kangaroos. Geography isn’t always a strong point in the US

Finally... P80 AWD Delta Link Rear Suspension Swap
After months of contemplation, I finally swapped out my 2000 V70R’s AWD multilink rear suspension for the FWD delta link rear suspension. It has been done before, but no information was floating around in the many Volvo forums. So, I figured I’d make a writeup on what’s needed to complete this swap....

Re: Cant get lower control arm installed
What a nightmare, but it turns out the fix isn’t Hard. You have to remove the driveshaft which isn’t hard with a chisel, once you do that I was able to compress the inner CV joint by holding it upright. You can not compress it when it’s installed. Somehow the cv joint dislodged and expanded too much...

Re: diagnose steering rack leak 850
I forget what is compatible. The inner tie rods are different and the rack is different but you can use either but swapping parts is required. Hopefully someone who has done this will chime in. I the rack is leaking, from anywhere then it would be fairly obvious. Clean everything off really well and...

Re: diagnose steering rack leak 850
There is also a chance that you'll see improvement by making a change in the power steering fluid to a high mileage ATF type or trying a 'stop-leak' product. I can recommend using high mileage ATF... I used to leak 25-50mL of fluid every month on my '97 855 GLT using regular Castrol Transmax, but wh...

This worked on my transmission and it's in the engine and power steering reservoir. Flush and add the AT205 for best results.

replacing steering rack questions
My passenger side bellows is leaking and I belive the rack seal is shot. I have the rebuilt rack and access to outer tie rods if necessary. I am sourcing power steering pressure hose 0-rings (green) and I would think I need 2 for each line. The pump and resevoir show no signs of being compromised. W...
