^^ I would get a pressure test on the coolant system before anything and check the transmission for coolant.

When I did mine, it kept getting hung up near the crank pulley, I had to remove the wheel and fit it there first. It’s easy for it to “feel” ok if not on correctly.

It’s the control valve in the compressor. Very common, very easy to replace. It’s about 100 bucks from your favorite online volvo parts dealer. Get the system evacuated, replace the valve and have it charged up again.
