Re: 1994 850 (B5254S) head gasket diy.

It never hurts to watch Robert work. Sometimes he breaks stuff so we don't have to.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Used the Erik method on the gasket this time. Glued gasket to pipe with permatex aviation , then installed head without bolts. Installed water pipe bolts loosely. Torqued head , then torqued water pipe bolts. Probably overthinking this Lower one is the harder one as you have to play Tetris with the...

Re: Probably doing a first start tomorrow. Hope it works. (Cracked cylinder head)

The surface has to be very clean in order to measure warping as little as 0.05 mm. You didn't show us good quality pictures of the cylinder gaps. Usually exhaust leak happens there. Also how bad are the sleeves out of round at the top? White block engines are basically unrepairable. While it is theo...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Unfortunately, unless you have 00 V70R rear brakes calipers. brackets and vented rear rotors you are out of luck. The 'regular' AWD cars have a dished rear backing plate which is designed around the regular rear calipers (be happy as they are at least still available). You can use the rear backing p...

Re: DIY 2004 V70 Sachs Quick Strut (FCPEuro)

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I want to know now before installing the $2000 in parts I've recently purchased for it. 20230703_095829.jpg Ther...

Re: Rescuing Geronimo the 2000 V70

I hereby nominate that one for the Titanic part thread….amazing that it rusted and holed under the clamp, saving a major fuel spill A strip of thin rubber sheet should do the trick for the padding. Trying to remember what I used I just moved Evitas fuel filter job up the priority list  :shoc...

abscate wrote: 10 Jul 2023, 07:47 Ooof , that’s a bad filter. Are you done with that one ?

On the cycling AC compressors on P80s. See jimmys tome above. He uses that as a check on correct charge when working these systems
Shook it out, looks good as new (might have been original to the car, late '96 build.)
