Here are pics of the new one (on left) vs the old one (right). FYI, my interior code is 3990 and you can see how my original one is a little more "yellow" vs the "stone" like color of the newer one.. That being said, it's not next to any other pieces that make it really stand out...

Fun fact: I've owned my '96 855 since 2006 and have never changed the brake pads. Every time I check them there is still at least 50% life. I will only buy oem when I eventually change them.

To update the thread: I got a new ETM from Volvo - fitted it to the car and it worked without software ~£450 for the part. I got a refund from ECU Testing for the still faulty ETM. I got the exhange part cost back from Volvo after sending them the old ETM - £120. Total cost £330. All labour done mys...
