Fun fact: I've owned my '96 855 since 2006 and have never changed the brake pads. Every time I check them there is still at least 50% life. I will only buy oem when I eventually change them.

To update the thread: I got a new ETM from Volvo - fitted it to the car and it worked without software ~£450 for the part. I got a refund from ECU Testing for the still faulty ETM.
