Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
I'm not the ultimate expert on these cars. However, if you have negative pressure (vacuum) under those conditions, I would say that proves the PCV system is functioning. Cam seals, like every other part on the car, have a service life. Eventually, they need to be replaced even if there is no problem...

Re: 1999 s70 missing bolts and purge line placement
Ok, I've finally received the parts. Everything fits perfectly. Air duct bolts are 985743, air duct washers are 986500, and front engine mount "flange screw" bolt is 982819. I've decided to not order plastic nuts for wheel well liners. They are a little bit too expensive for a non-critical...

Re: MAF code other issues. Related or not? Thoughts before I buy a new MAF sensor.
Purchased a new Valeo MAF sensor (OEM supposedly) and installed. Still was getting P0111 code. Ordered a used MAF online from salvage yard, made sure it was Bosch. Installed used Bosch and code has not returned in the last week and almost 300 miles. Low idle on cold startup and cooling fan running c...

Re: 2004 XC70 Instrument Cluster Issues
On a P2 I thought the DIM is pinned to the ECM like the late P80 cars? A swap would require a reprogram if that’s true Some swap-ins will work, some won’t. Certain conditions must be met. As it was explained to me, first off, the year must be a match - you can’t put a 2004 DIM in a 2003 car. Howeve...

How to say "Thanks" for a post that helps you
Please "Thank" the users in your post you feel have helped you. The image above shows where you find it on a desktop. On mobile, it's in the dropdown menu in the same location.
You may also thank someone in any thread for any reason -- it does not have to be your thread.

Re: Testing a wheel hub for failure
You generally won't feel any play or hear noise (unloaded) when a wheel bearing starts to fail. And from what other mechanics have told me: you don't need to worry about replacing it until it makes noise all the time. I had a Subaru where the bad bearing only made noise when cornering. And it was li...
