Re: New to me 99' S70, base, 5-speed, 209k

This is very interesting. Would you basically suggest wet sanding the whole top of the car? I will look more into this, maybe I'll try a little area on the roof first. Are you sure about the 800 grit to begin with, that is still very course. The most conservative way is to start with the finest you...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

What size hoses do you need for the 302mm upgrade? Looking to do it on my 850 soon - especially since my insurer doesn't classify it as a modification. People get away with the standard hoses. The 302mm hoses are a smidge longer to account for the caliper now being a little farther away from the br...

Re: Oil - What weight do you use? (Please forgive me for asking...)

I'm not sure the controversy over what constitutes a "full synthetic" motor oil matters. Seems like a semantic distinction. The "group 3" synthetics are synthesized from crude oil; that the base from which they're made happens to be what comprises conventional oil seems pretty ir...

Re: C70 sad story

Finally, one of the worst days of my long hobby mechanicing history was putting the two 10 mm bolts in the water pipe behind the number 1 cylinder up against the fire wall. Any tricks on this? - Make sure the gasket is captured when you're installing screws, and make sure it's not in the way of the...

Re: Coronavirus Thread

It’s painful watching states reopen with case loads growing. Absolute;y Moronic Completely baffling. I've been trying to figure out if there's some new infrastructure I'm not aware of or if I'm the only sane one. I also recognize that I've been getting more lax about social distancing - my personal...

Re: IPD/FCPEuro, Evaporators & Abandoned Volvos

For a lot of smaller items - seals, gaskets, trim, hardware, other bits that are best to buy blue box - you might be surprised how reasonable pricing is at the dealer.

Re: Coronavirus Thread

Here in CA the new case count has been dropping pretty rapidly of late, to around a third of what it was a month ago, despite things continuing to reopen. We seem to have put the fight about masks and social distancing behind us and are now finding our way to being a regular functional society again...

Re: 98 v70 t5 m56 motor swap

http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/14 ... ap-how-to/

02+ motors got new, longer con rods and are supposedly more tolerant of detonation. All else being equal, try to get one of those.

Re: Banjo bolt delete?

I did it exactly as you describe. Brass nipple to bypass the coolant loop in the banjo bolt, still using the bolt for the PCV. It's effectively the setup from the factory before 99. I'm only a few thousand miles into this arrangement, so far so good. Just check the PCV every 25k instead of 50k and i...
