Re: Ticking noise coming from lifter on 99 S70 t5
Oragex If I where going try an aggressive dose of Seafoam in to unstick lifters, I would let the engine run for 5 minutes to insure the Seafoam gets to the top end and there is some penetration of the Seafoam into the lifters. Thereafter run for 5 minutes every hour because the fluids are going to k...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
Thanks for the data plate video. My '07 has no such plate on the fender.
Come 2007 Volvo put small, soft black stickers in the rear door jambs-one on each side.
Professional body guys couldn't find the old style plate and told me my car must've been side trashed and rebuilt very well.
Gotta laugh!

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
Quick note on that SRS plate - the sticker used to say replace the SRS after 10 years, but there was a TSB that said this was no longer necessary.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
I was diagnosing the source of a fluid leak coming from the passenger's side of my engine yesterday... So I removed the serpentine belt and timing belt cover to get a good look and discovered that it was the water pump that was leaking. I also discovered that the idler pulley, timing belt tensioner,...

Re: Question about the outer tie rods, how are these installed?
The spindle has a 60deg taper machined into the bottom, which aligns the outer tie-rod end. I.e. these can only be installed one way, you can't flip them side for side and upside down - won't fit. The nut is single use because it's a prevailing torque type. It is a high quality forged nut which is c...

Re: Timing belt alignment off after timing belt job
1+, If you love your car and plan to keep it for a long time.... 1. WP: Aisin only (HEPU is OK too, but I prefer Aisin). Aisin lifespan is about 180K-200K. 2. TB kit from dealer is only $120. The Gates TCK331 (or TCK331A)....READ the amazon reviews!!! https://www.amazon.com/Gates-TCK331-Timing-Belt-...

Re: Timing belt alignment off after timing belt job
The possibility for low quality components aside my car looked like the picture when I bought it and it had obviously survived 140 K km on the belt by then since Volvo last changed it. I wouldn't worry too much if everything else seems fine.

Nice. Not quite as cold down here, but I had no trouble starting the '01 V70 at 1F/-17C this morning.

Re: Starting the engine at -25C
-13F for us Colonists
That's pretty cold. You will notice things start and sound differently.
In good tune and good battery no problems
5 year old battery might well croak at this temp
