Re: Sump Seal replacement
Hi. I am new to this forum. I have a 1994 Volvo 850 non-turbo with 140,900 miles. About 3 months ago, it started making valve train noises. The noises persisted despite multiple oil changes with different oil viscosities and "Seafoam" treatment. I read lots of volvo forums which suggested ...

Re: The great P80 Volvo Bloopers - Idiots - Fails thread - April 2020
Failures mentioned in other threads: -Changed calipers on a project s70 2.3T 1999 auto, did not realize that the bleeders were open on the front calipers. Drained half the reservoir onto concrete and probably added a lot more air to the system. -Didnt put enough tranny fluid after a drain and fill. ...

Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
I'm not the ultimate expert on these cars. However, if you have negative pressure (vacuum) under those conditions, I would say that proves the PCV system is functioning. Cam seals, like every other part on the car, have a service life. Eventually, they need to be replaced even if there is no problem...

Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
Ask that of the list in general when you have the engine out! There's no limit to what you can replace as preventive maintenance. The trick is knowing where to stop. There are certainly some seals and turbo cooling hoses behind the engine. I have a T5 Turbo in my S70 which differs in many ways from ...

Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
I can take as much time as I want on this car. Probably going to pull the engine/trans. Any suggestions on what else to take care of while it's out would be appreciated. Someone mentioned knock sensors. Being 23 years old anything made of rubber is worth replacing. Recently did orings on the oil pa...

Re: Rear crankshaft seal installation method 2000 S70
Nearly ever day! When I sold the 93 it was my daughters first car and one car too many for the household. I had finally got it to the point it was running perfectly. Young guy bought it and stuck it through a fence and ditch about 6 months later! The V70 base I also regret selling. A buddy wanted it...

Re: Has anybody seen this before on a 2000 S70 GLT SE Turbo?
Hey, don't beat yourself up on this. We have all done this type of things ourselves over the years (in some cases many times.....!

Re: Brake caliper failures and how to prevent them
Fittings seized: On rear calipers, the brake line fitting can become seized inside the caliper. I suspect the hole for the fitting has shrunk due to expansion from rust, grabbing the fitting. Removing the fitting will flatten its threads so it won't fit in a new caliper. A new caliper will require a...

Re: Thinking of Selling, 1998 v70
A 2010 Ford or Chevy will be pretty cheap to service and maintain as there are many more independents and chains that can do domestic stuff. However, they lack panache, verve, and élan of Volvos; documented by the lack of
