Re: replaced 2 window sliding blocks but window will only go up 3/4 way!
Another idea for future use: For retrieving non magnetic parts, buy a cheap spring operated parts retriever with 3 or 4 small fingers on the end. Very good for those dropped tools that roll to the center under the car. Also sticky tape ball on a stick can pick up many things in places the hand will ...

Re: 2001 V70, low-ish miles, owner says it needs a new cat. Am I nuts to consider?
My 2 cents as an owner of 2001 V70 T5 for 50,000 miles: Mine is now near 200,000 miles and needs regular care and feeding. I have replaced the transmission, radiator, did PCV clean, power steering rear hose, Electronic throttle, timing belt, parking brake shoes, belt idler, cam solenoid and fuel pum...

Tip for easier work on front of engine
I thought of a tip today to make it more comfortable to work down low on the front of V70 engines. The steel radiator support has an edge on the back side that is always cutting into your arms. This is particularly hard when the fan is removed. I realized a length of split hose or wire loom would ma...

Re: What size heatsinks do I need for CEM?
For heat sink size and details see: https://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?27249-I-added-a-heatsink-to-my-2004-CEM-CPU Lots of info here on what and where to buy. For my situation, after many times of hot start failures and limp mode, I will be getting Xemodex to remanufacture my CEM. Today i...

Re: Clicking/clunking/binding/rubbing/knocking...idk weird noise
When you had it on jack stands did you try to spin the front wheels fast by hand and see if you had noise? You may have a front bearing or brake part loose. Or could be a foreign object caught in the wheel or hub cap. Slow turning the wheel may not reveal the noise. Maybe try taking to a tire shop w...

Re: 2005 s60 2.0T petrol not cranking after headunit removal
When you removed the CD head unit, did you perhaps disconnect intentionally or unintentionally any wires under the dash? The immoboliser communicates with CEM, ECM and I think the TCM. Try a battery disconnect and reconnect?

Re: 91 240 radiator support replacement...
First thing is to get yourself at least one good 10 mm socket. Better yet, get short 6 point, short 12 point and deep 6 or 12 point sockets. There are so many 10 mm bolts on these cars and a selection will make all work easier. If money is tight, go to pawn shops or flee markets for used tools of al...

Re: A handbrake story
I think MoVolvos means a coupling nut - a long nut that is fully threaded and can be used to connect the broken ends together. This assumes you have at least some of the threads remaining on both parts. The Loctite he is suggesting is Loctite thread locking compound. It will be applied to the thread...

Re: Diary of a 17 y/o with an 850
shihabafi, I just found this extended post and read some of your great adventure with the 850. You have done very well starting from a dead car others had given up on. Also, a very interesting story with ups and downs, failures and victories. It could become a book! But only Volvo owners would read ...
