Re: Corona bench tear down of,a 1999 9171703 AC comppressor
This type of design is often used on high pressure hydraulic pumps. It is called a swash plate design (the eccentric cam part in the middle). The hydraulic pumps are extremely close tolerances and do not tolerate any dirt. I have never seen one with front and back pistons. How are the balls installe...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I thought I had a disaster today. I was cleaning some crud from the vent hole in the top of the valve cover with a Q-tip. Somehow I dropped it into the hole!. I got the flashlight and could see it in the valley of the cam area. I got my ever handy part grabber and went fishing. It came back out! No ...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
While waiting for other parts for 2001 V70 T5, I replaced timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley. I removed the vibration dampener pulley but wish I had not. Now I need a tool to hold it while I torque the bolts. I used a combination of several posts as guidance for the timing belt. The advice to u...

I don't see that you ever got an answer on the bellhousing question. The bell housing is the name for the adapter from the engine rear and the transmission...

P1900 introduction today 1954
According to my Hemmings Motor News calendar, today was the unveiling of the first Volvo sports car - the P1900. This was an attractive fiberglass body convertible. Unfortunately, it was not a commercial success. Several years later the P1800 was successful. Google P1900 for more information. volvol...

Re: 940 Regina starts fine, runs for a bit, then dies. Repeat.
Check the Ohms of the coolant sensor at a known temperature. Repeat at a higher temperature. Use top radiator hose as the temperature reference. You can do this in the car if your arms are skinny. If you do not have the recommended Ohm rating, post here for more information. Contacts may be good and...
