Re: P2 Pre-purchase checklist
If your mechanical work is as detailed as your inspection process, you should consider adding PCV repair to your own work capability. It is not that hard to do. I would add to inspection: Use a scanner with current engine operation parameters to read things like intake air temp, fuel adjustments, an...

Re: Died while driving, no start, 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345 miles on the car, 90% interstate highway.
Use a low cost scan tool to check for codes. If you do not have one, go to one of the many parts store that offer free code reading. Has the Electronic Throttle Module (ETM) been replaced? It would be well past typical failure miles if it has not been replaced or up graded to contact less type ETM. ...

Re: I think I’m gonna buy this… unless you guys strongly disapprove
I am cynical. A common reason for selling after making many repairs is a problem has still not been fixed and the seller has given up on finding the problem and repairing the car.

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?
The seed starting indoors was a success. Yesterday I planted outside seedings for Okra, Spinach, Lettuce , and three kinds of peppers. Today they are not dead yet. I hardened off the seedings by taking them outside in the afternoons for increasing time over about a week.

Re: 2002 V70 Tail Lamp Hex Nut Size ?
I suggest you buy two tools before you do much work on any vehicle:
1. A magnetic retrieval tool on a flexible stick.
2. A retractable claw retrieval tool on a flexible stick.
Both will save you much frustration. They are very cheap if you find generic brands.

Re: Most powerful rocket ever attempts launch early Monday morning
Let's do the math. Assume 33 T5 Volvo engines with tune for 500 HP (over boost for short period) equals 16,500 HP total. Maybe not enough to launch straight up, but great fun to launch sideways.

Re: Volvo EV Rumors (EX30)
A lease may be the smart way to own an EV. US credits are better for a lease on many EVs because purchase credits have more restrictions on location of manufacture of car and battery.
Also, a lease avoids worry about battery replacement cost and value of the vehicle in few years.

Re: We're keeping our cars on the road longer
After a few seconds of deep thought, I think I have the answer for light trucks being lower average age. Many trucks are purchased for business use and they replace sooner after lots of miles.
