DIY: Oil Pan/Sump O-Ring Replacement 2000 XC
Here is my write-up for removing the oil pan, or oil sump as some call it, in order to remove and replace failing o-rings throughout the lubrication system. Removing the oil pan for o-ring replacement is a messy affair, but very necessary if you are experiencing low oil pressure due to old and degra...

Volvo 850 Outer CV joint interchange data
I have had a torn drivers side outer CV boot on my 94 850 Turbo for longer than I care to admit. Because it wasn't making noise, I was originally planning on cleaning, regreasing and rebooting the axle, but as I investigated replacement parts there seemed to be confounding information on the CV axle...

Re: Wagon cargo storage organization
I have been thinking about adding storage drawers and a simple fold out kitchenette for camping trips. I would like to be able to install or deinstall within 10 minutes and will design it so that it will fit underneath the rolling cover that covers the cargo area. Will probably get this done sometim...

Re: Bringing her out of the Mothballs
I like the list order. Although if the ball joints are super loose, that is a safety issue you can't have those failing on the road. Visibly, horribly loose ball joints leap frog to the top of the list. Volvo brand reman axles are probably A-OK. I've never seen it posted about to pop off the PTC pla...

Subframe bushing tool
Hi Folks, Due to a minor accident mentioned in another thread, I found myself replacing the subframe in my 1999 s70. I found a lot of examples and suggestions on how to push in the new bushings. Below is the tool I made. I hope this helps someone in the future if he/she decides to tackle this job. I...

P80 DIY: Oil Cooler Line Rebuild 3528201 3528207
The oil cooler lines on these cars are known for leaking where the rubber hose is crimped to the metal ends. Mine have been leaking for about 4 years, but it was a slow leak. Today I decided to repair them. The Volvo replacements are a steep $250 for the pair. There are aftermarket brands but the re...
