Re: I just got an email from a Ugandan mechanic

I emailed Volvo for a radio code with the serial number on the radio and they were able to email me back with the info. Very fast and courteous customer service, I must say! They actually have a form to fill out where you can provide the VIN if you have the original radio in the car. http://volvo.cu...

Re: I just got an email from a Ugandan mechanic

If one has a Volvo Radio made by Philips, one can get the radio code from the radio serial number here . I could not test it because the only spare Volvo radio I have was made by Mitsubishi Electric. Did Philips ever make radios for Volvo? I don't know, but as far as I know all P80 radios, at least...

Re: wow- 23k 2000 v70 for sale

Cars in Vermont older than 15 years do not require a title to be transferred to a new owner. Depending upon when its deal was done, ownership of this car was probably transferred without title. Ah, that's what I figured. Still seems odd, I know NC allows the registered owner to apply for a lost tit...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Yeah, most paint will do that. Definitely don't rub it at all, try to remove it quickly.
Typically a quick detailer works pretty well to remove the stains left behind. Just try to clean it up quickly to avoid any kind of etching.

Re: hardly running 850 glt

read my first post, it came loose and the cams moved I know, what I meant was that the sprockets were not moved independently of the camshafts. From what I understand, the tool came loose and one of the cams shifted. Like I said, as long as you did not remove either of the cam sprockets, you can us...

You can also read the codes I retrieved on my first post.
Gotcha. I would try swapping in a known good Bosch MAF.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Usually I'm able to push the intake tube towards the manifold enough to slip the fan past. If you need to, you can remove the hose camp from where it attached to the ETM and slip that hose off, but the problem at that point is that it's much easier to do this when the fan is out of the way. I can't ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Tip on the serpentine belt tensioner... pick up a 1/2" to 3/4" socket adapter. Put that into the tensioner and turn it with a 19mm open end wrench. That method works best with OEM tensioners. The Meyle I had for a while needed to be widened a little. I used some big groove joint pliers to ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Pleats! That almost made me spit out my coffee! When I took off the old starter, I fished the missing piece of the bell housing from the flywheel. Breaking that piece (not by me, I don't think) was quite an achievement! IMG_20181121_140707912.jpg Ouch, somebody really did a number on that flywheel ...

2000 V70R Heater Hose Differences?

Now that I've finally filled the cooling system after changing the water pump this past weekend, I have discovered a couple leaks. One of them is coming from one of the heater hoses where it connects to the rear water pipe. I was going to order a set of do88 silicone heater hoses, but I realized the...
