Re: Thinking of Selling, 1998 v70

A 2010 Ford or Chevy will be pretty cheap to service and maintain as there are many more independents and chains that can do domestic stuff. However, they lack panache, verve, and élan of Volvos; documented by the lack of Oxford commas and semicolons in their respective Fora. Hi, So what's your poi...

Re: Simple Key Fob Question 1998 v70

You should not need to pair the fob as mentioned. Otherwise we would all be doing this on a regular basis. As also mentioned, the same with the fob. Neil. Hi there Neil, Oh great thanks. I found out the battery in the fob was dead, 70mv, so I had to order a couple CR2016 cells. I had CR2032 cells b...

Neil.
Hi Neil,

Lucky though if we did break the plastic only, they sell empty shells to replace the encasing (with no circuit inside).

Re: (Simple + i * Simple) Key Fob Question 1998 v70

Changed title to match discussion. Hi, Yeah, was trying to help find a new case for member 454cid but it's harder than I thought it would be to find a new bare case like that one. Seems there are no new cases for 1996 850 that look exactly like the one pictured in figure A in that last image.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I find that sometimes a worm drive clamp will rotate to a place where it is almost impossible to get a tool onto it to loosen. Talking about tools, I find myself always having to swap between 8mm, 7mm, and 6mm to be able to avoid using a flat-blade screwdriver. And then sometimes you run into those...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

On an iOS device I use the MVS Amazon link to go the jungle, then search it there, then cut and paste the link back to MVS so Matt gets his cut Hi, You mean you have to paste the link back here in addition to clicking the link? Oh I guess that is to show the link in a post. I'll try it right now......

Re: CNC Your Own Parts

I believe a quality bearing would required grinding to the final tolerances. volvolugnut Hi, Yes that's what they did. From memory, first the machining to the rough size. Then heat treating in a molten salt vat for some minutes, then quenching. Then there might have been another machining cycle. Th...

Re: CNC Your Own Parts

This brings up a production machining question I've had as far as accurate dimensions. If there is a solid shaft (not a bolt) that passes through a round hole machined in another piece, they both can't be "exactly" 19mm. Is one or the other just a micron smaller or larger diameter so they...
