Re: 2000 V70R electrical issue continues
When I was not using the car for a while I removed the battery and charged it before storing it in a warm room. Batteries do self discharge. That what a battery maintainer is for. The maintainer continuously replaces what the battery self discharges. There use to be a myth that the electricity esca...

Re: High Volume Oil pump
The Volvo white block Oil pump is a Gerotor pump. I don't think there is any way to change the geometry and make a higher volume pump that will fit in the space provided. There is rumor that the RNC Oil pump is bigger. You might look into building a RNC block and install it instead of the RN block. ...

Re: Growling sound while driving 2006 xc70
Is the brake pad retaining spring intact?
A broken spring was the source of a grinding noise on my C70. Let the brake pads ride on the rotor.
See #3.

Re: Are 99-00 DIM units swapable?
I have a slightly better than basic OBDII tester which can be set to brand specific. Set to Volvo it came up with 2 codes. I will re-confirm the numbers but if I recall correctly they were: P1618 - Wiring error to transmission P0608 - General error, VIN# and trans You can't trust the generic OBDII ...

Re: Are V/S/C70 DIM units all the same?
It would be great to get his view on this. Thanks for doing that Rick! He is here and he works off information so give him what he ask for. Might as well publish the VIN number here. It is public information anyway. Anybody can get it by looking at your dashboard. I does not contain any personal in...

Re: Compression test questions
Want to do a compression test tomorrow. Need to know which fuse or relay to remove so as to disable the fuel pump & ignition. This is on my 2004 S60 2.5T. Thanks. No need to pull fuses and relays. Even with the fuel pump cut off, the injectors will still spray fuel until the fuel pressure is pu...

Re: Over Heating
Hot engine, cold hose. When you had the Radiator out did you check for a clogged hose? The bottom hose ( lowest point ) is where any heavy gunk will settle. Clearly there is no circulation through the hose otherwise it would heat up.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I use Mother's Back to Black on the plastic. Back to Black is a wax. It just plays with the optics, wears off and goes back to gray. Forever Black is a plastic dye it restores the lost pigments and will last as long as the original dye. Note: Working with Forever Black is like working with Latex Pa...

Everybody knows Engineers can't spell worth a darn. So they name it what they can spell and sometimes what they cannot spell.
