Hum from the starter usually means low current capacity. Check for / Clean corrosion on the battery cables and terminals. Both cables and both ends of each. You are looking for something that will cause a large resistance and produce a large voltage drop as the current goes up. Windows ect, will not...

Re: Temperature gauge low

Most likely a Thermostat that opens too fast or is stuck open. It could be the Temperature sensor. Use a IR thermometer to measure the engine temperature and check it against the temperature gauge. 1/2 on the gauge is about 180℉ .
