I am a new member on Matthew’s Volvo site. I would like to share a repair I made recently. This is my contribution for being new on this forum. Re: 98 V70 does this TB path have wobble?

I took some random photos from Volvo 850 and Volvo XC90 2.5T engines to show the concept of "Axial" movement, i.e., movement along the axis of rotation. - The WP has a "inner flange" that prevents the TB from "walking inward", touching the engine. - The Crank Pulley (ha...

Re: ?Part next to the lower radiator hose under throttle body

It's a vent for the automatic transmission case.

I've never done anything to it on my cars. You could wipe it with a solvent-soaked cloth, e.g brake cleaner on a paper towel.

Re: s70 98 new timing belt sitting on the edge of the pulley and sprockets

In general, the installation looks fine to me, based on the photos. The fraying on the edge of the belt in the last two photos wouldn't worry me. I will let others speak up about this because I may be confusing this situation with some research I did of the larger 960 engine which was one of these m...

Re: s70 98 new timing belt sitting on the edge of the pulley and sprockets

People on this site have had problems with the Gates timing belt, not everyone but a few, so you are wise to check it out. Are you saying the pulley is INA? What about the tensioner is it Aisin? Get the plastic clip yes. The edge fray on the TB doesn't bother me. As for being off the edge of the spr...

Re: s70 98 new timing belt sitting on the edge of the pulley and sprockets

- I distinctly remember the belt riding in the middle on my 98 S70 T5. Looking back at my old post I see that the pulley is wider than the water pump unless it is due to the camera angle. The belt will not be stretched evenly and will not last besides potentially being pulled further outward. Heat t...

Re: Step by Step - Replacing the starter motor 1998 S70

The bracket 9442201 was removed by Volvo on later models, so you can install your new starter without either the bracket or worries. Link to some discussion here https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=88093&p=493947#p493947 Old thread revival. Incredible first time DIY ...

Re: DIY: 1998 S70 GLT Trans Cooler Line Rebuild for $10!

Yep, the oil dipstick tube and the transmission dipstick tube use the same sealing ring.

I would spend up on this seal, shell out the $5 for a factory one (e.g. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 30637865oe or IPD probably sells them too).
