Re: breather box?

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but shouldn't a problem with the MAF be easily diagnosable by unplugging the MAF? If it runs better than before the MAF is bad. If I remember right, as soon as the MAF is disconnected the ECU uses a base map that can still somewhat make the car run w/o the MAF. Also: +...

Re: breather box?

And, as always if electrical gremlins appear, a bad battery, alternator or the wlectrical part of the ignition switch are possible culprits. This is unlikely after the carwash, though, except maybe the alternator.

Re: 96 R heating issues

Sorry for replying to your helpful answers 5 weeks later. I ran into so many other timeconsuming, non Volvo related issues in the last couple of weeks that I am back at this only today. On the same day this problem occured, I first couldn't get the R to start because of an empty battery, but after j...

Re: Wheels for a '98 S70?

Try a junkyard or the classifieds sections, this is the best way to get reasonably priced wheels, maybe still with good tires.

Re: Pre vs post facelift body parts

I actually doubt they will fit. The early headlights are larger and accordingly are the turn signal units (they are definitely larger, I couldn't fit them in my 94-96 cars). Therefore the cutout in the front fenders has to be larger on the pre facelift cars. I have a few fenders in storage, I can me...

Re: Volvo C70 '99 swap B5254T with B5234T3

I'd first suspect the valve stem seals or the turbo as well. Hard to believe the turbo would be bad with these little miles. My 94 T5 would smoke like hell once the turbo went bad at around 300.000 km. The valve stem seals harden up with time. This is likely after these years. Check for it by lettin...

Re: Please critique my delta link tool advice

scot850 wrote: 04 Oct 2025, 15:39 Even the OE Volvo tool is just ok, but it likes to bend. There used to be a stiffener to reduce this issue but it is now hard to find.

Neil.
I think skandix has the stiffener. if I recall correctly it is basically a metal brace with two long bolts to prevebt the Volvo tool from bending

Re: 96 850 R quick PCV question

And the original one is still working like a charm. Boy, do I wish I hadn't used red RTV sealant or any sealant at all.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago.
OMG, the R turns 30 in a few weeks. It was 19 when I got it ...
This fall will make it 15 years of 850 ownership for me!
