Re: oil leak behind timing belt cover

First I'd clean off the oil as best you can, and see what happens up until you get the TB done. You may well find that with the PCV now done, and oil at the correct level it may not continue to leak. If it does you can try the ATP 205. It worked for me and a RMS.

Good Luck!

Re: drive shafts

I think Turbo and NA automatic transmissions are different. Are the driveshafts different as well? I don't think the transmissions are different, but I'm pretty sure the driveshafts are. At least in the US, 2000 model NA automatics have AW55 5 speeds while the turbo models have AW50-42 4 speeds. Ot...

I believe the final drive ratio is the only difference in turbo v/NA use transaxles.

Rockauto says the auto turbo and auto n/a axles are the same. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/volvo,1994,850,2.4l+l5,1433977,drivetrain,cv+half+shaft+assembly,2288 Manual axles are thicker from fa...

Re: drive shafts

Auto axles are different, in at least for the balancing weight that is attached to the driver side.. I wouldn't buy them from an austrian junkyard btw - I did that once and had to return it - it was bad too. Most of the cars ending up there are already completely worn out. I'd recommend ordering the...

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...

At that age if the shocks are the originals you will notice a huge improvement with new ones. They tend to go hard and with the 17" wheels and little sidewall it amplifies all the rattles. Having said that, here is what I usually find cause some of those issues you list: 1) Tailgate - 1) Inner ...

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...

You need new shocks/struts all around. They do go bad over time. My 850 base had ORIGINAL shocks and struts from the factory. They weren't blown and rattling nor leaking but they were definitely tired and worn. New on all 4 corners made all the difference. Is your wagon door rattling, squeeking or b...

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...

If you want to see a different option for dash mount repairs, take a look at what I did back in July of 2017. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81991&p=444318#p444318 My dash is still quite and quite solid. My method does require a couple of days to let the the ABS...

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...

I have most of the rattles you guys have been talking about, but also another nobody has mentioned- my second row seats squeak and rattle all the time. I believe the noise is coming from the latch that you disengage so you can fold them down. The seats freely move just a bit when in the up and latch...

Re: Insulation mat under carpet

I had to cut mine in 2013 to remove it and wash the coolant out of it.

Just cut with a sharp knife, make black marks To aid alignment, then duct tape it back together

It’s really high quality stuff, well fitted
