Re: New 08 XC90 3.2 AWD - Stage 0 - Oil viscosity in HOT climate
If I were you I would not deviate from the warranty booklet or maintenance schedule booklet's recommendation on oil weight or change interval. Your engine has a READ Rear Engine Accessory Drive, and a metal timing chain both located between the engine and transmission and both kept lubricated with t...

Re: 2000 2.9l What to do? Sell or fix and keep forever.
Wow! For a transmission proclaimed as junk by everyone not able to run beyond 40K without a rebuild, here is one driven 60K slipping! Also still going at 325K! IMPRESSIVE... I agree with Abscate that car has done it's duty. June

Re: V70 Shutdown while driving
You can also jiggle the key to see if the engine cuts out ..and try this in a safe place, like circling the Arc d'Trump....did I spell that right? I'd hope common sense would come into play here and the op would try this while the car is in park. When the ignition really gets bad jiggling the...

Re: New 08 XC90 3.2 AWD - Stage 0 - Oil viscosity in HOT climate
I never upgraded to a 3.0 T6 which is the 3.2 cousin. I just didn't like the AWD as the only option with T6 and the READ system worried me. Just like the current 2018 T6 AWD mandatory, so I still drive my 2004 T6 daily. You found what I was talking about. Apparently 0WXX is listed. The attached phot...

Re: Anyone have any experience owning a VW TDI?
I had the 98 V70 Cross country which had endless transmission and AWD trouble. My dealer was well aware of my experience. So in 2001 when I was ready to trade the 98 in all the 5 cylinder model's transmissions for 01 were having trouble. So my salesperson insisted I order a S80 over a FWD V70 as the...

Re: No transmission filter? Dealer said so
Only the 6 cylinder 2.9 and T6 models are lucky enough to have the GM transmission which does have a replaceable filter. The AW transmission is a Japanese transmission that I understand has no filter, only a internal screen not serviceable. Oh you must never add fluid other than the exact specific f...

Re: No transmission filter? Dealer said so
Here are pictures of the dipstick location for GM and I marked where the AW dipstick would be. You can't mix the two locations up. June

Re: could I have a bad motor mount?
MDK here...on the motor mounts. I bought a used S60 that I'm going thru. If you're planning on keeping your car for awhile afew years anyway., Just replace them all. Volvo uses recycled material that after about 10 yrs from the heat/cold cycles and oil or whatever they get soft ...my advice anyway....

Re: Extended Warranty
Yes you must either use the dealer or a Volvo specialist. I dont trust the latter personally. The dealer has to answer to Volvo if you are not happy. The indy mechanic will just tell you to fly a kite if he screws up your car. Also all repairs if ever needed have a lifetime parts and labor warranty ...

Re: Prolonged discussion of Shihab's 1995 850 with Motronic ??? and the rare heated third seat in Nautic Blue
Wow, you guys really really want to get to the bottom of this... If there's any tapping around you want me to do on my Volvo just let me know. Also, could someone please explain to me what Heinz 57 is exactly...? Also also, what's all this about rear heated third seat? I haven't even been able to f...
