Re: 2004 s60 R lights won’t shut off.

If your car matches the wiring diagram I have (2002 Volvo V70) these lights are controlled by the CEM, relay CMI5. You could swap this relay with an equivalent one on the CEM and see if it might be a bad relay. What about the front parking lights? It looks like this relay also supplies power to the ...

Re: Let's play Name That Car

Nope, I was embarrassed by my typo! Matt - the Citroen SM with a Maserati V6. Hydropneumatic (sp?) suspension with...quirks. I got to drive one across a parking lot in HS when I was a lot boy for a big Datsun dealer. The owner bought it, and the mechanics always had it in the garage working on the h...

Re: 2002 V70 (Timing belt replacement)

One follow-up question. I asked my old school mechanic who likes to work on American cars more than my car if he could replace my timing belt for me and he said as long as it is a "single overhead cam" and not a "dual overhead" one. Is my P2 a "single overhead cam"? It...

Re: 1 Minute per Second Battery Start Rule

Starting for only a minute or even five could cause lawnmower syndrome? At any rate; if you run the engine long enough to reach normal operating temperature, at least five minutes will have passed? I'm curious what the practical reason for the original question? June Hi June, Yes 5 minutes may be e...

Re: 1 Minute per Second Battery Start Rule

Yes it is, June Starters pull about 100 amps on cranking, they are nominally rated at about 1 Horsepower, or 750 watts. At cranking amperage the voltage will drop to about 10 Volts. I’m guessing the rule might be closer to 1 minute RUN for each second of start. Don’t forget , on a 1999 on , if you c...

Guess who got to hang out with Abscate for a couple hours?

My son and I... Steve was here on business and drove down from Boulder to have dinner with my son and me. (Steve, thanks for making the drive, and sorry we couldn't meet you closer to where you were.) We grabbed some Mexican food at a Denver mainstay Blue Bonnet . Oliver (13) said (unprompted) he en...
