Re: 850r failing emissions miserably (HC and CO)
OK another update - I got a vacuum gauge and tested my vacuum, I was getting 15 inhg vacuum before I replace my TCV vacuum lines and now it's slightly lower, between 14 and 15, after replacing them. I also inspected and swapped out some worn-looking elbows but everything else looks relatively decen...

Re: Best Place To Break Through The Engine Compartment Firewall
There is a pass through under the main fuse box into the under side of the dash by the relays. It's plugged with a rubber grommet with 3 nubs sticking out.

Re: Best Place To Break Through The Engine Compartment Firewall
The interior cap had fallen off for me. The one in the engine bay popped off easy, but was a pain to get back on for some reason.

Re: Best Place To Drill Into Center Console 1998 v70
The carpet just tucks under the console. There's not really any adhesive holding it down. Removing the console is easier than you think. I watched Robert's video and it took me less than 10 minutes in the junkyard.

Re: 98 S70 T5 Part #9463088 Fuel Tank Vent Hose, No Longer Available?
Without having the exact measurements on hand for the hose... I think you could easily replace it with a generic hose. A fuel grade silicone hose would be easy to stretch over the bigger diameter.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Today I worked on the rear shocks. I removed the first shock mount bolt on driver side. Sheared it off. Remembered on stuck bolts, Robert loosens then tightens then loosens again to prevent shearing. I did that on the 2nd one and worked fine. Both on passenger sides did not get stuck. Went to hardw...

Re: Eliminate fuel cut T5
I am by no means a tuning expert, or even a novice. But the stock ECU is expecting stock injectors and a stock turbo running stock boost. It can probably compensate for slightly higher boost pressures but without a tune or a way to monitor AFR, it's hard to say if it will be safe. My experience is l...

Re: Testing a wheel hub for failure
You generally won't feel any play or hear noise (unloaded) when a wheel bearing starts to fail. And from what other mechanics have told me: you don't need to worry about replacing it until it makes noise all the time. I had a Subaru where the bad bearing only made noise when cornering. And it was li...

Re: Windshield Washer Not Working
The check valves can stick as they get old and if they don't see regular use, same with the pump. I have posted a thread on the subject before and on how to open the valves and check them. Neil. Hi Neil, Remember the thread? I believe the link was posted in my V70 restoration thread, along with som...

Re: Windshield Wipers for Volvo 1998 v70, Dual Blades?
MrAI I highly recommend Bosch clear advantage beam blades. Even during heavy downpour, they did pretty good. Not amazing for that much water, but like 85/100. I buy bigger than oem for my 98 v70. Rear window is 14 or 16 oem I think. I've got bosch 16CA. Got 22CA passenger side, 24CA driver side. Re...
