Re: Any good reads ?

Behind the Enigma, the official history of Britain’s GCHQ (their NSA) is an amazing look at secrecy and the bad things that can happen when everything is secret for no reason.

Re: Scotty Kilmer ATP AT-205 Re-Seal Stops Leaks

Scotty Kilmer frightens me every time I see one of his videos. He either hates Nissans or loves Volvos or thinks electric cars are trash or moans about transverse mounted engines. Sometimes I think he’s run out of oxygen and his mouth is on auto pilot. I basically do the opposite of what he preaches...

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue

So FCP has the GKN axles and these guys are OEM axle shaft suppliers for Volvo and other makes, but they are eye wateringly expensive $395'ish. That's a lot of shekels! IPD has axles from Protech with great reviews for $175. They've been in the business for more than 20 years and are based in Street...

Re: 2016 XC90 P0171 - Out of Ideas

I had a similar problem, same code on an S80 a few years back. What I learned is that the front/right O2 sensor reorts fuel rich / lean to the ECM, it does all the work. The rear/driver's side just reports on the efficiency of the catalyst. I might just make darn sure you haven't crossed the connect...

Re: Overheating Weird - Smartest People Needed 2016 XC90

So our 2017 had a similar issue, we got a brief coolant low warning and then the car would overheat as you've described. I topped up the coolant 3x over about 10 days and finally found a cracked T fitting on the driver's side of the motor down low that had a fairly invisible crack but greenish coola...

Re: engine or turbo are done, car has 69000 miles.

So I don't think the whole engine is shot. The smoke is likely coming from the bearings on the turbocharger (or the supercharger) leaking oil into the exhaust stream which hosed up the catalytic converter. The turbo could also be leaking externally from a crack in its housing and down onto the exhau...

Re: squealing belt/pulley and idling rpms increasing; 2017 XC90

... Also chuck a new serpentine belt tensioner in there for good measure with a new belt. I think the ECU is hunting the idle to get the alternator to the correct RPM to run the car, charge the battery, heat your backside, etc. It also could be an alternator, but I'd probably do the previous items f...

Re: V70 1999 I was driving along and the car shuts off. Instruments on the dash went bananas. Now have a p1618 code.

So lots of good answers here, but the very first thing I'd do is check the fat black negative cable from the battery to the body. There's a bolt there that holds the cable to the body on the inside of the fender, near the battery. Take it out, examine judiciously. Is it shiny & new, or is the bo...

Toni! Hang in there! I am also a cancer fighter. These (it's a pair) cables are discontinued, but I found a set at Pelican Parts in Harbor City, CA.
