Re: 1998 V70: tailgate stuck shut; how in the world do I remove the trim panel while it's closed?

Just went through the very thing. As Neil mentioned, the clips/brackets are likely already in various stages of failing, so once you get the latch surround mentioned off, you really do just have to start tugging on it. Mine was repaired by a previous Technician with 8 nice, long sheetmetal screws. I...

Re: Electric air conditioning compressor (ELAC)

Thanks, appreciate your posting this followup. Crest was a MVS sponsor for a few years. They're good people.

Any chance you could take photos of your progress? Post them here or just send them to me, either would be really great. [email protected]

Re: 2015+ XC90 Catalytic Converter Theft

I don't have any experience with SPA. But muffler shops I bet are doing a handful of these every day. Around here they're getting stolen all the time off of every type of SUV and tall crossover. Forget the etching thing. That will not stop a meth zombie from cutting off your catalytic convertor. I'd...

Re: Moldy 2005 V50 5-speed w/blown HG.. am I crazy to think of fixing it?

To me, questions are : what's your goal ? Is this car a daily ? Does it matter with passion for this model ?
Use an Injector-Extractor Cleaner to clean doors panels, carpets and seats. As said Abscate, let the car dry a bit after that and see the result.

Re: 1998v70 Car Will Not Start AGAIN

You need to split your path of diagnostic tree into either ignition or fuel issue.

The simplest way to do this is with starter fluid , a 3 second shot into the throttle body. If it Vrooooms suddenly? It’s a fuel issue.

If not, an ignition issue

RIP - SC-900 audio head unit - Maybe not....! - UPDATE

I had removed this head unit after it had been running fine in the 'R' last summer so I could test a bunch of other head units I have as well as amplifiers and the cable harness for those. When I went to remove it I ejected the 3 CD cassette and it failed to eject one of the discs. I cleaned it and ...

Re: '02 V70 (Timing Belt parts question)

My local shop just did mine at just under 290k on my 2002 V70 2.4T. no issues so far. I would have done it myself, but time, space, and comfort were factors. I really couldn't afford to make a mistake, and Volvo is almost all my guys do, and I've trusted them for almost 15 years with that car for th...

Re: 98 Saffron V70R in Edmonton Wreckers

Nice find. Those look like adjustable bars like you say for the rear axle. Shame that a saffron 'R' has ended up in the junkyard. If you have time and go back, can you pull the rear brake adjusters for the parking brake cables? Those and the brake backing/dust shields are NLA for AWD P80's so worth ...
