Re: 1999 V70 Codes, Dash Lights, and Oil Smell
Your foot shouldn't need to be to the floor for small hills. I have one or two widow makers out this way that require a little gas, but nothing like that.
Sounds like you may have purchased a great car for an even better price that just needs a little work =)

Re: 1999 V70 Codes, Dash Lights, and Oil Smell
If it is the ABS wheel speed sensors - they're located right behind the calipers if you remove the wheels. Should be two wires coming out of it, brown and black if my memory is correct (don't trust it, I don't...)

Re: 1999 V70 Codes, Dash Lights, and Oil Smell
With all the work you need to do, get Volvo Vida+DiCE.
Check the wiring and connectors between the speed sensors and the TCM.
#17 is the Transmission speed sensor and is Volvo part number 9495008.
#19 is the Speed sensor and is Volvo Part number 9496115.

Re: 1999 V70 Codes, Dash Lights, and Oil Smell
Now waiting for the mailman to bring me the lift gate struts, shop manuel and Vida+dice. I suggest you get the RePack version of Vida. It can be used in a updated Windows 7 environment or a Windows 10 environment. Good chance your need the 2099 patch which is on page 1. The RePack is on page 6. Vid...

Re: Intalling Vida 2014D for the first time Windows 10 Home
Yes you can get it to work on Windows 10 but use the 2014D RePack and the 2099 patch I pointed you to. Not the software that came with the DiCE.

Re: New catalytic converter
Odds are the J hose is the issue as you suspect - assuming the gas cap is sealing correctly and the fuel neck is intact. The J hose tends to crack on the side not facing you or only displays itself when being flexed. My current plan is to replace mine with a piece of silicone hose with a stainless s...

Re: 1999 V70 Codes, Dash Lights, and Oil Smell
It must be good to feel you are getting near to a finish line. At this age there is typically never a true finish line, but often a tolerable level of function with parts still to fix. My 2000 V70 base just kicked my ass again. After inspection it needs top spring seats (were fine last year), LH con...
