When I had a issue it was a metallic pop from behind the dash. My mechanic knew instantly what it was and tightened the bolts without replacing the mounts. He said those mounts rarely need replacement. My 04 S80 being a P2 car like yours, it's probably the same bar and mounts. June

They are dampers, not springs. If you had a good ride and no under damping, keep the P2 struts; they run 200k if run carefully
