Re: Spark Plugs: Copper vs Iridium vs Platinum FF#32

I was always told "use OEM plugs, always. If it came copper use copper, if it came platinum use platinum. Don't use Autolite if it came NGK (or whatever the brands.)" Okay makes sense. Obviously, non stock cars may have other considerations. Now, being one that doesn't take "just bein...

Re: Spark Plugs: Copper vs Iridium vs Platinum FF#32

It's a little strange to see "keep it like it was made" in a Performance forum, where just about everything revolves around what we can do to make cars better, faster, stronger, etc. If there's new technology that can improve the life cycle, driveability, joy and fun of a car, why not use ...

Re: Burnt ignition coil

Update, thermostat changes and you were right. It was in bad shape. Shop stated it basically fell apart when they took it out. So likely one of the issues. Thanks again

Re: $10,000 S80 Challenge

Well done Paul

You are driving a $60,000 luxury car on a $8000 cost, and you could probably get most all of it back if you chose,

Re: Oil Anti Drain Valve for the P3 -- 3.0T and 3.2

This seems to also imply that on your car, you should change the filter first before draining the oil correct? That way any oil held in reserve is now in the pan to be drained with the oil. I don't have a P3 and have always changed my filters after draining the oil and putting plug back in. my cars ...

Re: Oil Anti Drain Valve for the P3 -- 3.0T and 3.2

Thanks Paul, I was hoping a new spring valve could be obtained. Things like this, replacing a whole casting with machining, seem so wastefull for the want of a gram of formed rubber. I am thinking the rubber in a small syringe i have for vitamin B shots can be adapted by slicing to same thickness, i...

Re: replacing my 05 XC90 with 250K, which to buy? V8 vs. 3.2l

We drive 2013A XC90 with 140,000 miles. It is a 3.2I AWD. Overall very please with all aspects of it. I have been following Volvo's maintenance checklist for 150,000 miles, a.k.a Service Schedule II. See pgill's $10,000 S80 https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87687 ... ...

Re: This morning, power steering and parking brake

I have to say, I was super skeptical of this idea. But hey, everything that made sense to me so far didn't fix my problem, so I did what you said and BOOM you were right all the bizzar codes went away right after unplugging the power steering pump. Note: the 100 amp fuse was not enough the plug had ...
