Re: Intermittent Charging System Failure message with B1087 code
I’ve been meaning to get to replacing the radiator sensor, but my wife has been living with the intermittent charging system error, so the new sensor is still sitting on my workbench . Today it also threw a P2568, which indicates the Environmental Air Catalyst sensor on the radiator. I guess I’ll se...

Re: 3.2 Thermostat Housing (Warning)
I can confirm that this item is a must replace item for car with more than 10 years of age. I decided to replace the thermostat in my 2011 XC70 with 206K KM this Summer by first removing the intake manifold, etc. The old part was in good shape when I pulled it out so I decided to set it aside for ma...

Depreciation.
For a running, smog test passing car I think $2000 is a basic number that you can get for any car in CA.
There is always a market for basic transportation.
Once you have amortized $5000 of depreciation , I would argue it has collapsed to $0 from then on

Update: It turned out to be the power steering pump - it was almost completely dry. I had visually checked the fluid level from the outside of the reservoir - which was about 5mm below minimum - and had intended to fill it up, assuming I lost a small amount leaving the PS lines disconnected while re...

Re: $10,000 S80 Challenge
* Hi Paul, Just put on another set of EBC's Friday last week. This time it's the front rotors, front pads and rear pads only for the 03 GS300. Finished around 9:30PM so just took it out and bedded the pads by going up to 50 mph and braking hard half a dozen times. The black coating on the rotor and ...
