You have to change all 5 motor mounts if you want less vibration, yes those two really hard to replace acorn mounts. Also a shot control arm and struts will also send vibration.

So the last guy who replaced the pcv system was pretty violent or stupid with the evap rubber that goes to the intake. No, I'm not interested in spending $100 on a glorified hose; and on top of that I plan on changing the pcv myself, but I don't know what's going to happen if I attempt to pull it of...

Re: Rear shocks nightmare! Topic is solved

Get a deep socket, and HOLD the top part of the shock through the springs.

Also, use the jack (not the cheap 2 ton you get anywhere) to push and hold the new shocks into place; you can also use it to push up on the control arm. The jack is your friend.

There's a schrader valve to the left or near the tank. Unscrew the dust shield, push the pin with something like a tire pressure pen and a rag, then things should be easier.

Also, get a pan below the filter, there will be quite a spill.

Next time you drive somewhere, just parking, or waiting for someone; just turn off the radio and turn the volume knob back and forth a million times. I'm guessing the knob gear is dirty, so just spin it for a bit and see if you stop getting the spontaneous increase.

Re: Strut question ?

Yes, they still seem to be dampening in both directions I guess I was wrongly expecting them to react like a shock. This is first rebuild of strut for me and decided to reinstall original, FCP has a Mayle strut on sale for 50 bucks, but I decided against them. Does anybody have any experience or in...

Re: seatbelt not pulling out... Topic is solved

Not something I know. I sometimes get pas airbag off on my rear view (depending on the person). Not sure if it's just a sensor. All I can say is, a working seat belt is better than nothing. Plus, you got a 16 yr old car, one day it'll be better to just get rid of it. So just make sure you disconnect...

the panel seatbelt post?

Yeah it looks like you're gonna get a replacement on ebay. taking it out is straightforward, you just gotta look at it and see what needs to be removed piece by piece. And for god sake, unplug your battery before removal.

Re: Engine Oil recommendation ?

One of the things I believe is that it doesn't fricking matter where you get your oil from, as long as it's the same viscosity's that is labeled in the manual and in the case of P2 Volvo's, full synthetic. Here's the one amazon sells. 5w-30, high mileage full synthetic, and the 6 quarts you need to ...

Get a Flathead screwdriver and/or a 7mm socket handy and check the tubing from the MAF to the throttle body, and check for any leaks or if anything is loose, and if so, then tighten the clamps. Hell, smoke a cigarette into the intake and see if it comes out somewhere. At least for the first part, th...

Try and raise the sunroof and look through the crack to see if the guides are broken. If they are, then look online for removing the four guides without taking out the headliner and just install the two front ones, because the rear ones are a pain in the butt if they break again and you should do fi...

I use 87 on my Volvo, and the only difference I can feel when I ignored my aunts insistence on 91 was more money in my wallet.

ATF is recommended to do a drain and fill. Link you the OE brand.

I guess I’ll find out if the leaks stop tomorrow and change the oil. The color of the oil is still newish. I know the oil cap says castrol on it. Is Castrol the best choice for a car with 175k? I think the other seals are good but I’ll find out once the lock rings are removed. There’s no splash gua...

Re: New Member New to Volvo

I smelled burning oil when I stopped today. The oil was near the bottom of the ok marks. I topped it off with 5w-20. Ok, I know you just put in some oil, but I think you should just do a full oil change while your at it. The engine is rated to accept 0w-30, 0w-40, 5w-30, and 10w-30. Hopefully the e...

Be wary of everything rubber in that car; also, I would start changing oil every 3 - 5k in order to avoid the dreaded PCV issue. See if you can get one with the timing belt changed, and clean the throttle body in order to avoid MAF check engine light. IPD gives a great summary of common problems wit...

I see. Could the service key be upgraded to the master? Or should I just put in $100 more for a second master? I just don't want to be stranded when a key is lost, yet I don't want to take big hits to the wallet.

Help with getting a spare key.

For as long as I have got my S60 I only have the master key, nothing else. I know it pays to be redundant, but I am wondering if it's worth getting a service key for about 300, or juts get another master key as backup for about 400. What do you guys suggest?

Mine failed at 157K and I was lucky to catch it so soon with state inspection, and that it was breaking where the smaller end was. Just check it once a month with the tire pressure. I just stick my phone past the tires and take a pic, flash and all.

I have a problem with my S60 06 when I put in my keys to the driver door, it does not respond to me turning left or right on the cylinder. And there are other annoyances such as when I push down on the door lock stick, it would go back up and then down again in random intervals for 2-3 seconds until...

You night just have to dig in and clean the throttle body as well; as it gives off the lean fuel trim codes too.

I also managed to pass inspection.

You might have to dig in and clean the throttle body; no need to remove it, just unscrew the air intake pipes to get to it. If not, then see if the engine mounts are dried up and loosing their rubber.

check engine light and throttle body Topic is solved

Hello This is my first car which was gifted to me by my aunt, and it is an 06 S60 2.5T with 156000 miles. My problem is this check engine light that refuse to leave. The codes that come up are P0170 and two P0101 from the computer. In response, my mechanic changed the MAF twice, but after 15 minutes...
