Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
Now that I have the car running again, I thought I'd try rebuilding the old starter. When I was looking around the other day I found this guy rebuilding a Bosch starter. Looks simple enough if you can locate the parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b0lsoT2DYM Anyone know the part numbers and wher...

Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
So I replaced the starter and it started right up.
Thanks for all of your help!
Remnants of the broken splash shield were still holding on. I replaced that too.

Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
Can't recall, but does the 05 have the rear end of the starter mounted on a bracket like the P80's? I don't think so. The starter can get hung up on the dowel pin. If you can't just work it back and forward to break it loose, you may have to try a pry bar or a flat blade screw driver gently hammere...

Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
wild guess, the starter got flooded, i'd bench test it. Thanks, I'm trying to do that now. The wires are disconnected, the stud bolts are out, but I have yet to be able to remove it. It seems to be stuck on the pin. I'd like to avoid hammering it off. It seems best to test it before damaging it. :)...

Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
Try getting a wrench on the end of the crank and rock the crank a little. The starter might be jammed in the flywheel teeth. Maybe. volvolugnut Thankfully I was able to rotate the crank with no problem. And all of the accessories were freely rotating as well. No belt slippage.:) I then tried to sta...

Re: No crank 2 days after 4" puddle
Thanks for your reply and suggestions Neil. I forgot to mention, that : - I did check the airbox, it and the filter were dry. Phew, although the car had been sitting for two days. - I also checked the oil dipstick, all looked normal to me. No water droplets and regular looking oil. I tried to connec...
