Thanks Lee, I could not sleep because it just made no sense....TURNS OUT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IN SLOT 39 WAS BAD...I had checked fuse 33 for the power seat but did not look at the CIRCUIT BREAKERS.

Lee We did not make any alterations at all to the engine wiring harness. We stripped the 1997 engine from all its turbo components and replaced the manifolds with those from the the 1996. I will simply have to do some additional research and see if I cannot find out what 's going on. Many thanks aga...

Hey Lee, I am quite sure that the 1997 engine is indeed the Motronic 4.4...our volvo mechanic assured us that as long as we had the ECU from the 1996 there would be no problem...is this the case or not?!

Thanks for the prompt feed back. The vehicle in question is a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT. I have an OBD diagnostic scanner and no codes come up...but all the dash lights come on when I turn the key--the battery, oil, radiator, everything except the Check Engine light.
