Re: Mystery HUGE Oil Leak

Cam cover? Anything you attached to the cam cover/block during the HG change is where I would start looking. Rear cam seals are also suspect. The HG job was done at “Swedish Car Specialists” here in Schaumburg as part of an exhaust bolt extraction (sheared off). Long story, had a “ticking” at start...

Re: Mystery HUGE Oil Leak

Front seals done with timing belt less than a year ago. Turbo oil return line seals were intact but I did replace them with no change.

The test drive was about 1.5 miles each way and shut off in between.

Mystery HUGE Oil Leak

Hoping you guys can help...the patient is my '04 V70 R AWD auto trans and its leaking 1 quart every 200-300 miles. It seems to be coming from above the transfer case as it is completely covered with pools of oil in the top recesses of the casting. The bottom of the trans also a mess as well as the e...

Re: ‘04 V70R P0234 & other stuff

So the CEL is gone and the turbo SEEMS to giving nearly appropriate boost (that is like it used to be) but it sounds like the blow off valve is allowing some of it out while on it & I can hear something like blowing bubbles through a straw when I let off the throttle. I’m thinking the solenoid m...

Re: ‘04 V70R P0234 & other stuff

While maintaining a consistent rpm the power assist comes and goes. Now that I’m thing about it, I better check the fluid level. I’m betting he had it all apart in order to remove the head (also did the timing belt/water pump service) and perhaps did not top it off. I would expect the pump would jus...

‘04 V70R P0234 & other stuff

So after replacing the coil wires that the mechanic thought liquid tape would sufficiently address the crumbling insulation, I have a car without P030X codes and idles/runs properly. Of course that means I could finally notice the others issues: 1. P0234 code (generic - wasn’t there before). The car...

Re: 2004 V70R Ignition issue

New plugs with fresh wiring is in...now come to find there is a P0234 code, there is next to no boost, and the speed sensitive steering isn’t functioning properly. Glad I spent $6500 ($7500 but talked him down $1k) to have it fixed right by a Volvo specialist.

Re: 2004 V70R Ignition issue

Ordered new plugs with 24” whips and will be splicing/rewiring the 5 plugs. Also adding shrink wrap to the wires running from the main harness line to help protect and maintain them

Re: 2004 V70R Ignition issue

So I checked and the fuse was blown, tried a new fuse and it immediately popped so clearly something is shorting out. Stripped everything and there are a couple places that I’m highly suspect of. Going to look into shrink tubing supplies in a roll and try to pull each pin and sheath them all the way...

2004 V70R Ignition issue

So i just dropped $6500 getting work done on my “baby” and the wife drove it home (mistake). Ends up it was running rough the whole way & threw P0302 and P2302 codes just as she got home. The guy had told me he used some liquid tape to cover some of the coil wires as they were exposed by the con...
