Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

....and the results :) Problem fixed, and it was the lose bolts that holds the torque converter. So happy now because last week I had my mind set on a replacement engine. Now I might have the cleanest oil pan in this forum also :) Big thanks for your support 365699065_250881184539722_530375098361607...

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

I'm hoping the flywheel was the source of the bad sound.
Any other maintenance that we should do while the pan is of ?

The seal we are talking about is this one ?

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

This evenings findings: 1. We changed the gearbox 1,5 years ago and now when the pan is off the car I could easy feel the bolts between the flywheel and torque converter. They where all loose  and now I'm hoping this could have been the rattle from my engine. 2. The rod bearings have all play ...

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

Thanks for your fast reply vtl
You are right, its just that the engine has brand new oil in it that I don't want to waste :)

If we remove the pan and don*t see any signs of overheat or play in the rod bearings then there is no point in takin them apart ?

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

Back from vacation and one week to fix this issue :) This morning we looked inside the cylinders with a endoscope and the cylinder walls and pistons look fine. ( see pictures) Also we tried to feel for some play pressing down on the pistons but no play at all. This was done with the pistons on the w...

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

Questions: We replaced the automatic gearbox 1,5 years ago, could this be a torque converter that got loose from the flywheel? Options: What's the easiest way to diagnose bad rod bearings ? Can I remove the sparkplugs and press down feeling for play ? More info: The car runs normal, with no power l...

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

Now we really need your expertise !!
So with both stethoscope and just the ears the sound is coming from the right side of the engine ( the gearbox side)

Re: Help diagnosing bad engine sound

Sorry for unclear description, but in short removing the serpentine belt does not make a difference.
Now I'm hoping for something else with an easy fix. Will update soon with info regarding VVT and waterpump

Help diagnosing bad engine sound *solved*

Hello

1. Removed the serpentine belt and the sound is still there, so no easy fix

2. No play in the turbo axle

Is this a bad VVT sound ( no fault codes in vida)?
