thanks Bill. I managed to get the starter out last night, rigged it to the battery and it worked perfectly. Slightly annoying really because I was hoping/convinced that was the reason why the car wouldnt turn over. Perhaps the re assembly process may jault something. fingers crossed and all. Failing...

HI All, Im in despertate need to change the water pump on my '97' S40 TD but im working blind with no manual. Does anyone how difficult the job is to do? I also have no idea whether the water pump is drive from the cam belt or aux belt? Any help for this job would be greatly appreciated. cheers Mike

My R reg S40 have just developed the same problem and im still investigating the problem. it would appear the most likely cuase is with the central control module inside the car and these seem very expenice to replace.
