buy/ borrow an ecu?

I was in the same situation. spent about $2000 to only have more problems later.

i was thinking about silverstars too, when I had them they were pretty good, but a lot of others I know have had poor results

Make sure your battery is disconnected before you go pulling things out .
Yes, and when you reconnect the battery, do so in this manner:

Put ignition in position II
Reconnect negative battery cable
DO NOT enter vehicle until SRS light has extinguished

why is that?
Cant you just put battery in ...

most tire shops will be bale to get them off if you cant.

vibration at idle seems normal.
The other will chime in, but I think its a volvo trait.
