Re: 97 850 GLT Whining/whiring at 40mph
Have a look on the left side drivers shaft and see if there is anything clamped around it between the wheel and the support bearing, the device may have been fitted already and it may be another problem. Mine was more of a transmission whine rather than whirring and was most noticeable around 30-35m...

Re: 97 850 GLT Whining/whiring at 40mph
Mine had that whine as well and was fixed under warranty when I bought it. There was a TSB that called for the installation of a damper on the LHS driveshaft. http://www.automd.com/tsb/bulletin_b49953/ It's some sort of vibration damper that clamps around the shaft. It fixed the problem for a few ye...

Re: What OBDII Scanner Should I Get?
It's been some years since I researched this cable but this looks like the exact same one I have : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-LEAD-409-1-OBD2-II-CODE-AUDI-VW-Skoda-Seat-VAG-COM-VAG-COM-/120838136727?pt=AU_Components&hash=item1c2283a397 I recall most reports said that USB-Ser...

Re: What OBDII Scanner Should I Get?
Just make sure the VAG-Com cable has a FTDI chip in it and you should have no problems.
You can get drivers from the FTDI website.

Re: Looking for decent Volvo parts supplies in/to Australia
Hi GDavid....just seen your post and by now you will probably have bought some parts. I have used FCP successfully for several years but have just bought some front calipers off Amazon as they did not require a core charge. Could not get brake hoses from Amazon so used Forwardit USA personal shoppin...

Re: Advice Please...Reconditioned Front Calipers
Hi Erik, there are 2 used calipers on Ebay in Oz for $140 a pair. I got 2 of the Centric reco calipers for $130 which come with all the hardware except pads for $130 from Amazon as per Al's post above. For items that Amazon wont ship to Oz I use http://forwardit.us/index.php. Got ATE brake hoses for...

Re: Advice Please...Reconditioned Front Calipers

The brake hoses would not arrive till mid January so will source them through a buying agent I sometimes use in Colorado and get them Fedexe...

Advice Please...Reconditioned Front Calipers
Cheers from sunny South Australia.... Time for new front pads and discs on my '96 NA 850 but the dust boots are split on the front left caliper and both hoses have cracked and perished outer sheath. My indy Volvo mechanic understandably advises to recondition both calipers, this will cost $360 at th...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 GLT Stalling intermittently
I'd go with all the cheaper options first rather than throw parts at it. As others have said the fuel pump relay is troublesome but can be reconditioned for a few $$$. There is an excellent guide here https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9681 Also clean the throttle body/ butterf...
