I'm kind of holding out hope for a really nice 97 850 wagon. I feel that it is more likely that I will get a 98-00 V70 just because they are much easier to find.
I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I much prefer the looks and feel of the 850 interiors.

Re: CV boot replacement
Last Summer I ordered both of the cheap axles from FCP and had the same issue with different sized nuts and 2 different manufacturers. After I had done the job I thought that I had read someone mention horror stories of a poor quality CV axles form FCP actually snapping off at the transmission :shoc...

Re: Time for a new Volvo!
Thanks BEJinFbk It Sounds like the early 98'-00' models are at the very least simpler than the newer ones. When you say especially the 98', are you saying that the 99' and 00' more electronic gadgetry or issues? It also sounds like some believe the Gen 1 AWDs are given a bad rep because its just one...

Re: Time for a new Volvo!
Hey if you can travel anywhere, the Volvos I've seen on Texas Craigslist seem like a good deal.

Re: 95 GLT N/A Timing belt...
I have not yet had the pleasure of doing a T-belt on one of these cars but I do know that IPD sells a cam locking tool for about $25. I've heard that some people don't like this device but having not used it myself, maybe someone else can chime in on that. I would consider myself a competent shade-t...

Re: Time for a new Volvo!
Thanks MIJ. I probably will go that route and get a 98'-00' V70. I am curious though about what people think of the reliability. Say that I was willing to spend enough to get an 02' or 03' P2 V70 with say 100k on it; would it be any more or less reliable than a 00' V70 with the same # of miles? In a...

Re: Time for a new Volvo!
I've seen a few of the V70XC models around but I'm wary of the all wheel drive causing me repair headaches. Any opinion on just how bad the early AWD's were, is also appreciated.

Re: Time for a new Volvo!
I'm afraid that I was under the impression that Ford had bought Volvo in 99' and had a hand in the 01' line of V70's. My mistake I guess. I did actually haggle with the insurance quite a bit. They gave me a low ball offer of $3k to begin with. I've looked at your V70 since before the accident and it...

Time for a new Volvo!
Hello everyone, I was badly rear ended in my beloved 96' 850 wagon on Valentines day. The red S70 that hit me obviously had a bit of a crush on the ol' wagon. The car is totaled and I'm going to have to save a bit to get anything close to the condition of mine( insurance gave me $4200, only 108k mil...

Re: Rubber question... 96 850 200K +
The tire size recommended in the owner's manual when putting snow tires on is "185-65-15". The 185 makes for a narrower tire that will get through the snow by putting more pressure on a smaller tread patch. The greater aspect ratio of 65 brings it well into the tolerances of the required d...
