update: random throttle fail while driving, 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345

Inspected the ETM connector, no issues found.

update

Dismounted, opened, inspected, reassembled, and cleaned the ETM.

Here are the housing numbers.
ETM
8677796 020806
800600210
01786 japan
8002

Interesting, I will closely inspect the connector for issues.
After I reinstall the ETM I will recheck codes.

Re: random throttle fail while driving, 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345

It has a new fuel pump and PEM.
Fuel pressure was monitored during test drive, with no variation.

Thank you.

random throttle fail while driving, 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345

The continuing saga. Random throttle fail while driving = any speed it suddenly drops to idle, 7 to 100 seconds it begins functioning again. 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345 miles on the car, 90% interstate highway. No codes. My first assumption is a failing TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). He...

Good afternoon. The saga continues. New PEM connected, the fuel pump runs, it started and idled strange. FYI: Found the issue is a broken crank position bracket. For anyone not aware, this is a plastic bracket with a threaded stud. Apparently when I replaced the sensor, nut removal started fracturin...

Might be worthwhile starting a new thread on your headlight issue. Sometimes when you have a major issue things like this can get missed. When you say headlight, do you mean the whole headlight unit is not working or just the actual headlight? If it is just the headlight, have you tested the bulb? ...

Your help is appreciated. The PEM module has been removed. Following advice of many sources, shaking the old module sounds like a Maraca. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=synrohkGwAc Thank you to my local dealers LaFontaine Volvo Farmington Hills, MI Suburban Volvo Troy, MI for verifying by VIN# the ...

How do you know your 2003 does not have the PEM?
My excuse is old age, and failing vision.
You are correct.
Blind groping I found the PEM right front top of the fuel tank.
It will be replaced when the new part arrives.

Thank you so much.
