Re: 1998 S70
Someone said that by doing so it will tell you if the MAF is bad but I don't know how accurate that is. That’s not knowledgeable information, which is too common. As a rule disconnecting logic circuitry under power is a bad idea and certainly isn’t good diagnostics That doesn't surprise me.

Possibly. I can't tell 100% sure bcuz my stepson is vague with details and he's the daily driver for that car. You know how teenagers are lol. From me driving it for like 30min up and down hills and getting up to 50mph.

Re: 1998 S70
Running rough and low idle should make the computer unhappy. Is the car setting codes ? There was no codes when I bought the car. After all the work I've done the maf code came up bu that was bcuz i forgot to plug the maf sensor in when I was doing some work. I cleaned the Maf and put it back on. I...

Re: 1998 S70
We normally recommend running on premium gas and > 1/4 tank of gas. The gas helps cool the fuel pump but needs that minimum level to do so. Need to get that fuel pressure tested. MAF could be an issue, but hard to say. Did you try cleaning it with MAF cleaner, and electrical cleaner on the connecto...

Re: 1998 S70
That MAF code will clear itself after several successful drive cycles of the MAF being plugged in. It’s easier just to clear the code with a readers unless an emission inspection is due So its worked great for over a week. My stepson has been going to school and work on the regular with no issues w...

So I won't ha...

Re: 1998 S70
You can run it without being connected for a short time to confirm if the MAF is good or not. No harm done. If the ECU does not sense the MAF as it is disconnected, it guesses at the settings the engine needs and uses default parameters. Neil. You know what that's not a bad idea. If God forbid it d...

Re: 1998 S70
The MAF could have been your issue. It will be interesting to see if the issue goes away and stays away once it is re-connected. Strange about the loose spark plug. I worked on an 850 recently and one of the plugs was barely hand tight! Neil. The MAF was probably disconnected for about a minute. I ...
