So its worked great for over a week. My stepson has been going to school and work on the regular with no issues whatsoever. I fixed it the car saturday the 19th. Today is the 28th and my stepson said he felt like it was idling low and he felt like he had to rev it when he has at a light to keep it alive. He said it felt sluggish. Gas was under the number 6 on the fuel gauge (1/4 of a tank) which makes me think it could have been that since I've been told those cars shouldn't go under 6 (1/4 tank) bcuz they get very finicky. I told him to fill it up and he did and he said that it had trouble starting at the gas station but once it came on it didn't feel sluggish any longer, it wasn't idling weird or anything that it was doing before. Could it be the fuel pump or the MAF sensor?

We normally recommend running on premium gas and > 1/4 tank of gas. The gas helps cool the fuel pump but needs that minimum level to do so. Need to get that fuel pressure tested.
MAF could be an issue, but hard to say. Did you try cleaning it with MAF cleaner, and electrical cleaner on the connector?

I didn't know there was an MAF cleaner until i did some research so I'm gonna clean that, bring it to see what codes it has and reset them and go from there.scot850 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2023, 20:21 We normally recommend running on premium gas and > 1/4 tank of gas. Running rough and low idle should make the computer unhappy. Is the car setting codes ?

There was no codes when I bought the car. After all the work I've done the maf code came up bu that was bcuz i forgot to plug the maf sensor in when I was doing some work. I cleaned the Maf and put it back on. I'm gonna see if that's rhe issue and go from there. I did unplug the maf the cars rpm seem to go up by like 250rpm and then plugged it back in and the car shut off. Someone said that by doing so it will tell you if the MAF is bad but I don't know how accurate that is. After cleaning the maf I took it for a drive after it was dry and the car seems completely fine.

So you are saying the car is now running well after the MAF clean?

That’s not knowledgeable information, which is too common.Someone said that by doing so it will tell you if the MAF is bad but I don't know how accurate that is.
As a rule disconnecting logic circuitry under power is a bad idea and certainly isn’t good diagnostics

It is ok to disconnect it to see if removing it from the circuit identifies the MAF has failed or the connector is bad. The computer compensates using set values to help the engine run, but this is not a recommended long term plan. Purely a diagnostic process.

Possibly. I can't tell 100% sure bcuz my stepson is vague with details and he's the daily driver for that car. You know how teenagers are lol. From me driving it for like 30min up and down hills and getting up to 50mph.
