Re: 97 855 Fan noise coming from dashboard, NOT the blower m
Quick update: system is completely reassembled including blower, however the noise did not come back yet, so no chance to fiddle with it. I played with the air outlet setting button quite a lot, at various airspeeds, but couldn't trigger it. On a side note, after all other fixes, and despite airspee...

Re: 97 855 Fan noise coming from dashboard, NOT the blower m
Hum, didn't think of this possibility... For an unknow reason I'm now realizing that I always assumed that damper motors were basically silent units, or at least that they can not make this kind of high pitched, rapidly oscillating noise. Which is probably just plain wrong. What makes troubleshootin...

97 855 Fan noise coming from dashboard, NOT the blower motor
Hello, I'm the very happy owner of a 97 855 which is going strong at 294k km. I'm in the beginning of the process of fixing the whole climate control stuff - I've an ECC (basically, evaporator is leaking, and some DTC are showing up). For the last years, I sometimes had a high pitched "squealin...

1997 855: Keyless entry system troubleshooting
Hello, Happy owner of a nice 97' 855 since 2008 (I clocked about 100k miles myself until now ;-)), I installed a few years ago the OEM keyless entry module (Volvo P/N 9148645). I also grabbed 2 matching remotes on ebay. I plugged the module where it belongs (right hand behind the glove box) and prog...

Re: 855:Tailgate not always closing/opening with central locking
Hi there, I checked the cabling at the tailgate hinge, found nothing looking bad. I stretched each wire, and they all felt solid. So I refitted everything and assumed the fault wasn't there. So next step, I ordered a complete second hand tailgate lock assembly on ebay (2nd hand because new is 120€+)...

855:Tailgate not always closing/opening with central locking
Hello, I (still) have my 97' 855 which I'm very happy with. Just passed the 142k km mark (88k miles), and obviously still going strong! The tailgate lock is slowly getting annoying however. After fixing all the rattles, it now starts to erratically refuse to obey to the central locking (key based-no...

Re: Fuel-driven heater (webasto) on a 97' 855
Thanks for the details, BEJinFbk. Didn't even know these pads existed at all. I was able to locate some 120V-rated on ebay. As I need 230V versions, I still have to search a little bit. Or I could just get 2 of them and wire them in series...

Re: Fuel-driven heater (webasto) on a 97' 855
BEJinFbk, If you understand you properly, you advise it would be a wiser idea to fit an electrical heater to the car, than a fuel-driven one? Eg, the 850 equivalent of this device: http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories/cat/en-GB/X40/climate/preheater/VCC-214040.htm Did I understand you properly? Rega...

Re: Fuel-driven heater (webasto) on a 97' 855
Renns, you are right. The purpose of the device is to burn gasoline (or diesel), to heat the engine coolant. This way, the engine is already warm when you crank it. Also, the cabin fan can be activated, this way the cabin is also heated, and you find your car free of ice, and comfortably warm, even ...

Fuel-driven heater (webasto) on a 97' 855
Hello all, I have an opportunity to acquire a second hand Volvo-branded fuel-driven heater from a 98' petrol V70 (currently still in that car). My car is a 97' petrol 855 (2.5 NA 10v). Would that kit fit my car? Is it difficult to mount? Looking around (read: ebay), I found there is a workshop manua...
