Re: 1992 940 b200f running issues

I htink the air gap between the TDC sensor and the flex plate is 2 mm, Ive checked it using a vernier callipre, bmeasue how nmuch ot protrudes and check the lenght of the sensor and subtract to get the air gap. I had a bent up on once I had to tweak it from underneath the car also drilled a hole for...

Re: 1992 940 b200f running issues

I think in 92 the ECU controls spark advance, might be bad input from the TDC sensor? I know nothing about 940s I once put a 240 back together and I had the felex plate on wrong and it had to be turned to the correct bolt hole. the flex plate in a 240 or 740 has a series of holes and then a spot wit...

Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

im not positive byut have a look at the alternator , the volvo ones and I assume the AC delcos have a little unit held by 2 screws. I know that on volvo 240's and 740's I have removed it without remving the entire alternator. once removed there , it is a little block with brushes, I believe this is ...

Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

Ive been using this Penetrox -A stuff. heres an article https://sw-em.com/anti_corrosive_paste.htm That whole website is fun too! love the humor. also check the " springiness " - if you heat copper or brass and then quench it , it removes the hardness, or spring tension, this can affect sp...

Re: 1993 240 Bad Ignition Switch?

suppose you measure power at the relay and get 7 volts, it is possible the starter solenoid is energised and what you are measuring on your meter is basically a series voltage drop. unhook that wire and verify if it has 12 V or less. If you only have 7 volts with the solenoid disconnected and out of...

Re: 1993 240 Bad Ignition Switch?

if you open up the area near the shifter there is a piece of plastic film that dispays the shifter position. near there is a wiper thing that will only allow contact in neutral or drive. You can jump it for testing purposes but domt leave it like that or you may start it in gear and have a runaway c...

Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

I stuck a Gm alternator in my 122 20 years ago. when I drive I see the red alternator ( well I guess it would be generator) light coming on. if I turn the headlights on the generator light goes out. like yours, mine did charge the battery fine so I ignored it for the past 20 years but it is on my bu...

Re: Looking for some vintage Volvo advice

if you want a car you can get in and out of without lying down first ;-) Id pick a 122 or a 444/ 544 or a Duett , they are more rare and super cool too. If you love welding, buy a rusty 1800 they are worth more on the market. The drivetrain is very similar. Ilke the look of 1800's but I also like si...
