242 remote or delete brake booster

I'm chasing additional engine bay space and would like to move or delete the brake booster to achieve this. Has anyone used a remote brake booster whilst maintaining the standard 242 braking circuit or alternatively, has anyone successfully deleted the booster and still maintained acceptable pedal p...

Installing Low Fuel Warning Light in 242

In the past I've been troubled by the inaccuracy of the original fuel gauge in my 242 and so now with the R Sport gauge I've been doing some homework to check the accuracy of this fuel gauge. I've pumped the tank till empty, and got a reading of 281 ohms, at which point the gauge showed no movement ...

242 R sport Dash connection

I've had the above dash since Dec last year and have finally gotten around to putting it in. I thought it was a simple change over but all that's happened is it blows the power fuse when the ignition is turned on. The Volt and Oil gauges run ok by themselves with their own wiring but I cannot guess ...

Re: 240 Heater valve. How does it work?

Ok. I spent a bit of time yesterday with a Volvo 240 heater valve and a hot air gun to see what the capillary was doing to effect the valve. With the heater tap closed and the heat gun on the end of the capillary nothing changed. The valve stayed shut. With the valve tap fully open and the heat gun ...

Re: 240 Heater valve. How does it work?

These manuals show fantastic detail on disassembly and assembly and shows the heater valve and capillary in great detail, but the question still remains, what does the capillary actually do to the operation of the valve? Having had a good look at a unit outside the car, the capillaries purpose is st...

Re: 240 Heater valve. How does it work?

Thanks for the responses. As for the taps/valves they both appear to be on/off with the degree of opening being controlled by the simple slide lever on the heater panel. This is not an auto climate control heater. The original valve simply has a copper probe that goes into the body of the heater fan...

Re: 240 Heater valve. How does it work?

Doesn't anybody have an answer?

There are numerous references throughout this forum about the replacement of the valves but nothing about how they work. Surely someone has investigated their operation and knows how they work and how to set them for best operation.

Anyone???????????

240 Heater valve. How does it work?

Ok, just a little back ground to this question. A couple of months ago the heater water valve started to leak and so I went and bought an after market tap and installed this, using the original slide controller cable to achieved full on and off. Unfortunately, the heater now blows either hot or cold...
